Christian Yoga for When You're a Hot Mess: Week 1: Gentle Heart-Focused Yoga Flow

Flow Description

This is the first video in a six-part series dedicated to peeling away the masks of performance and perfection and finding real, deep, life-changing intimacy with God.

Here’s the truth: Jesus loves messy. He’s so drawn to it.

Humans? We avoid messy at all costs.

Over these next six videos, we’re going to get right down deep into our mess, into our brokenness and our broken hearts, to a place where we’re honest with ourselves so we can find real intimacy with God and show a real authentic self to the world.

The first video is all about connecting with our hearts. Did you know that the Bible talks about the heart nearly more than anything else? And yet, so many of us walk around with hearts broken from loss, rejection, disappointment, guilt, fear, the list goes on and on. As we move and breathe, we’ll invite God to shine some light on the state of our hearts and take the first steps towards deep healing.

Note: You’ll want to grab a yoga strap / neck tie / scarf for this video!

Scriptures

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”

{Proverbs 4:23}

“For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

{John 4:24}

“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.”

{Ezekiel 11:19}

Questions

  1. God, what is the condition of my heart right now? Will you give me a word, picture, or sound that reflects my heart right now?

Prayer

Father, thank you for meeting us here. You are the breathe in our lungs, the beat in our hearts. Holy Spirit, guide and speak and reveal the truth of who the Father is and the truth of our hearts, free of pretense or posturing, and help us to worship in a deeper way than we have before. We know it’s your kindness that leads us to repentance, so Jesus, may we encounter your kindness and find the boldness we need to peel back the layers of heart.
